Day 6 NAKHON RATCHASIMA – PHIMAI – KHON KAEN
Visit the Khmer sanctuary of Phimai and the late 11th-century Prasat Hin Primai.
Continue to Baan Prasart archaeological site. Stop at one of Chonnabot’s traditional
silk-weaving centers.
Day 7 KHON KAEN – UDON THANI
Visit Nong Wang temple and Sanjao Bueng Tao Gong Ma. Drive to Udon Thani.
On the way, stop at the village of Ban Khok Sa Nga. On arrival, visit Phu Phra Bat
historical park.
Day 8 UDON THANI – PHITSANULOK
Excursion to Baan Chiang archaeological site, considered by archaeologists to be the
most important prehistoric habitation and burial site in Southeast Asia. Depart to
Phitsanulok, an ancient city of the Kingdom of Siam.
Day 9 PHITSANULOK – SUKHOTHAI – PHITSANULOK
Stroll through the city and visit Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, the most important
temple in the region. Visit Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 10 PHITSANULOK – PHRAE
Depart to the small town of Phrae. On the way, stop and visit the Sri Satchanalai
historical park. Ruins of 134 monuments have been discovered within the park.
Day 11 PHRAE – NAN
Stroll through Phrae’s morning market, then visit the Burmese-style temples of Wat
Jom Sawan and Wat Saraborkeo. The journey continues to the mountain town of
Nan. Stop at the Pae Muang Pee canyon for a walk through its 2-million-year-old
rock formations. Arrive in Nan and visit the town’s main temples.
Day 12 NAN
Discover Baan Nong Bua, a Thai Lue village renowned for its expertise in traditional
cotton weaving known as ‘Lai Nam Lai’. This village preserves traditional techniques
and its inhabitants create fabrics with unique designs. Visit the Baan Nong Bua temple.
Day 13 NAN – PHAYAO – CHIANG RAI
Drive to Chiang Rai. En route, stopover at Lake Payao and visit Khom Kham temple.
Arrival in Chiang Rai and visit the White Temple. This temple, a masterpiece of
Thai architecture, was founded in 2000 by the famous Thai artist Chalermchai
Kositpipat, and is made of white concrete and thousands of small mirrors.
Day 14 CHIANG RAI – GOLDEN TRIANGLE – CHIANG MAI
Depart to Mae Sai, the northernmost town before the Burmese border. Excursion
to Doi Tung, visit the Princess Mother’s villa and the gardens of Mae Fah Luang.
Stop at the Golden Triangle for a pirogue ride on the river delimiting the 3 countries
(Thailand, Laos and Myanmar). On to Chiang Mai.
Day 15 CHIANG MAI
Discover Chiang Mai, the “Rose of the North”. Excursion to Doi Suthep hill to visit
the 19th Buddhist century old Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, offering a sweeping view
of central Chiang Mai.
Day 16 CHIANG MAI – MAE HONG SON
Depart to Mae Hong Son through a mountainous landscape. Visit Tham Nam Lot
cave, decorated with colorful stalagmites and stalactites. Arrival in Mae Hong Son,
a town full of lush jungle, wild life and breathtaking view, in the north-west of
Thailand, bordering Myanmar.
Day 17 MAE HONG SON
Motorboat trip along the Pai River. Stopover in a Padong village to meet its
inhabitants. Visit Mae Hong Son (Wat Hua Wiang teak temple, Wat Chong Klang...).
Day 18 MAE HONG SON – CHIANG MAI – DEPART
