ARTS & CRAFTS ESCAPADE IN LUANG PRABANG (LAELPQ-03)

Laotian arts and crafts are not only renowned for their quality and diversity, but also for their deep-rooted involvement
in the daily lives of the local people. Our escapade allows you to immerse yourself in the country’s know-how, and to
discover dances, frescoes, weaving, or the making of traditional “Saa” paper. All these crafts are in the heart of the
local way of life, and their diversity mirrors the many ethnic groups who make up the country.

OUR HIGHLIGHTS

• Visit art galleries or sculpture studios, with the chance to meet one of the artists.
• Stop at the village of Xang Khong, specializing in Saa paper (traditional Laotian paper).
• Visit Luang Prabang’s Center for Traditional Arts and Ethnology. This small museum is dedicated to
collecting, preserving and interpreting the arts and lifestyles of many of the country’s ethnic groups.
• Natural dye workshop at Ock Pop Tok weaving center, to discover the techniques of
Laotian weavers.

• Take a stroll through Luang Prabang’s night market, where you will find many items handmade by
ethnic minorities.
• Discover the intricate art of wood carving and basketry.
