LAOS BY TRAIN
10 days / 9 nights
This program allows you to discover Laos by replacing air travel with train
and car, so you can enjoy its scenery while limiting carbon footprint.
Day 1 LUANG PRABANG
Welcome by our representative at the airport, transfer and check-in at
the hotel.
Day 2 LUANG PRABANG
Discover Luang Prabang. Visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center,
the National Museum and Vat Xieng Thong, considered one of Luang
Prabang’s most beautiful temples. Participate in a traditional private
Baci ceremony.
Day 3 LUANG PRABANG - KUANG SI - LUANG PRABANG
Daily monk procession. Hike through the mountainous region, passing
through rice paddies, and forested mountains. Discover Kuang Si
Waterfalls and its natural pools.
Day 4 LUANG PRABANG - EXPRESS TRAIN - OUDOMXAY
Transfer to the station to take the train to Oudomxay. Upon arrival, get
welcomed by our representative, transfer and check-in at the hotel.
Visit a small market where ethnic minorities gather to sell their crops
and handicrafts.
Day 5 OUDOMXAY
Discover the Nam Kat Waterfall, then stroll along another trail to the
park’s tallest trees.
Day 6 OUDOMXAY - EXPRESS TRAIN - VANG VIENG
Visit Phu That stupa, then stop at the local market. Transfer to the station
to catch the train to Vang Vieng. Upon arrival, get welcomed by our
representative, transfer and check-in at the hotel.
Day 7 VANG VIENG
Discover Tham Jang Cave, then visit Tham Nangfa Cave. Boat trip on the
Nam Song River (if the weather permits).
Day 8 VANG VIENG - EXPRESS TRAIN – VIENTIANE
Transfer to the station to take the train to Vientiane. Discover the capital.
Visit Ho Phra Keo, the former royal chapel where the Emerald Buddha
was enshrined until it was taken to Thailand. Stop at Patuxai, the city’s
triumphal arch, before continuing on to the great golden stupa of
That Luang. Founded in 1566, it is the symbol of Laotian sovereignty and the
Buddhist religion.
Day 9 VIENTIANE
Stroll through the local market, then visit the Buddha Park. Stop by the COPE
center, whose mission is to help disabled victims second Indochina war.
