Turkmenistan boasts captivating landscapes and a rich heritage. This 8-day itinerary offers a unique
experience, from the ancient remains of Merv to the “Gateway to Hell” (Derweze crater). Thanks to its
architectural heritage and culture, this must-do offers a first approach to the country.
Day 1 ASHGABAT
Welcome by our representative at the airport,
Dashoguz
transfer and check-in at the hotel. Dashoguz
Day 2 ASHGABAT
Visit the city of Ashgabat, the white and green city
with the Constitution Monument, the Independence Darvazavaza
Dar
Monument and Park... Visit the National Museum,
with around 500,000 objects devoted to the Bronze
Age, antiquity and the history of Turkmenistan in Ashgabatabat

the Middle Ages.
Day 3 ASHGABAT - MARY - MERV - ASHGABAT
Road to Mary. Visit the Abiwerd, once an essential
link in the Great Silk Road between Nisa and Merv.
Drive to Merv (“Queen of the World”), once one
of the most important capitals of Islam. After the
visit, transfer to Mary airport for a return flight to
Ashgabat.
Day 4 ASHGABAT - DARVAZA
Visit the Carpet Museum, featuring designs by the
Tekke, Yamud, Sarik and Chodor tribes. Discover the
Darvaza gas crater. The region is rich in natural gas
and the crater has been burning for over 50 years.
Overnight accommodation in a yurt or in private
tents.
Day 5 DARVAZA - DASHOGUZ
Drive to Dashoguz and transfer to the hotel. Join a
pottery class to learn the basics of this ancient art
from a master potter. Introduction to the different
types of clay and the tools used in their manufacture.
Day 6 DASHOGUZ – KONYE-URGENCH - DASHOGUZ –
ASHGABAT
Drive to Konye-Urgench and visit: Caravansaray
portal, Mamun minaret, II Arslan mausoleum,
Sultan Tekesh mausoleum... Transfer to Dashoguz
airport for the flight to Ashgabat.
Day 7 ASHGABAT
Visit the fortress of Nisa, one of the oldest cities
of the Parthian Empire. Then visit a stable to see
Akhalteke horses. Explore the Gulistan Bazaar, one
of the world’s largest and oldest covered markets.
